Fine, fine, FINE single brought to you by the fabulous Family Groove Records. Aurra was an offshoot of Slave. They had some hits with tunes like “Are You Single” and “Make Up Your Mind”, but after a few years the group split up, with Steve Washington on one side, and Starleana Young and Curt Jones on the other, both continuing to use the Aurra name. Washington replaced Young with his then wife Sheila Home Washington and Curt Jones with Mark Steven, and struck a deal with the mighty Quincy Jones to record the album Satisfaction for his Qwest label. However, Young and Jones claimed they owned the copyright to the Aurra name, and Qwest decided not to release the album, even though Washington eventually kept the name and the duo changed theirs to Déjà, going on to record hits like “You And Me Tonight”.
This summer, Family Groove is releasing Satisfaction for the very first time, and “Perfect Date” is the first single taken from it. Can’t wait for the album to come out.
