7" Series 715: Afrikan Simba - Good Father b/w Dub Father

I’m “one of those” roots lovers who are a bit scared of the new stuff. Mostly because I don’t like my roots to sound so clean like today’s productions – it must be dusty, so to speak. I say “one of those”, because I don’t really know if there are other roots lovers who feel the same way, but if I do, there must be others, too, right? Sometimes though, when I feel especially adventurous, I go and get one of those new ones, like this one by Afrikan Simba, a Nigerian Deejay based in London who over the past twenty years has worked with sound systems like Jah Shaka and Sir Coxsone Dodd, apart from running a store called Drum Beat, hosting a radio show on Voice Of Africa Radio, and running his own record label on Jamaica, Ayamba.

The tune (with, as the title suggests, the dub version on the flip) is a proper roots riddim by producer T-Woc from Dublin’s AlphabetSet Collective.
