The Blaxound Family - Make Me Believe In You

Single that comes with issue 36 of the fabulous Spanish funk & soul mag Enlace Funk. The Blaxound Family are a project from Barcelona, basically the brainchild of Rubén Román who lures the City of Marvels‘ finest musicians to his Blaxound studios for some good old seventies-style funky jamming. After 2008’s Return Of The Blaxound album, this single is the second official release. “Make Me Believe In You” is a reasonable interpretation of the Curtis Mayfield-penned tune made famous by Patti Jo, while “Brand New Old Story” is an original with special invite Paco Mantecao Manzanares of the Fundación Tony Manero strutting his stuff on the Hammond. Not incredible, but decent, methinks.
