Joy Division, anyone? “Bipolar” could be produced by Martin Hannett. But it isn’t. Martin Hannett is a long time dead and the track was recorded and released a year ago on Outside Sound as the label’s first and only reference to date. I got engaged in an email conversation with one of the people behind the label a couple of weeks ago. It was a conversation about the record bizz which I will not bore you with, but the lady in question told me about her “thing” on the side – Outside Sound. She said they only wanted to release 7″ singles and before I finished reading the message I had already bought the precious thing. Because it’s a 7″ vinyl. And it’s orange.
Luckily, I also like the music on it. I mean, you can’t really go wrong sounding like Joy Division and The Fall at the same time, now can you?
They’re not on Outside Sound anymore, but they have released a 12″ called “Planning Application” on One of One Records in December 2008. I’m not sure what Factory Floor are up to these days. They are still around, that’s for sure – check the vid.
