I heart Horns. I wish I could post the fourth 7″ as well, “Up! Up! Up!”, but I haven’t got it. Ordered it, and Suzi Horn herself wrote to me saying it was on its way. But it didn’t arrive. She sent another one, and that didn’t arrive, either. Turns out some fuckhead has signed for it. But it wasn’t me nor ze girlfriend. So now I have to find out if our mailman delivered it to someone he shouldn’t have, or if some son of a bad mother at the post office likes the Horn. I’m hoping for the first. I will send two people to go sleep with the fishes (oh go on, the fuckers deserve no better – they deprive me of my vinyl and make me look bad in the eyes of the Horn. I’ve killed for less) and get my hands on the precious slab of wax. In case it’s a post office worker with good musical taste, I’m afraid I’ll have to get a pen and write the 45 on my belly, as we say in the old country.
Anyways. I love their sound, so minimal, so rough, so beautiful. They record in an old church in Brighton, and right now they’re working on a new album in a red shed, designed by scupltor John Thomson, which they brought into the church. You gotta love that. That, and the fact they fucked off EMI because the company wouldn’t include a clause in their contract regarding the use of recycled and recyclable materials for the fabrication of their record sleeves and all other Horn-related stuff, as the band has done with all the releases to date.
